High Performance and Scalable Connectivity
The AirPro AP-SG6500E Series delivers high switching capacity and wire-speed Layer 2 and Layer 3 forwarding for demanding enterprise network environments. Hardware-based IPv4 and IPv6 routing provides consistent performance across access and aggregation deployments.
Integrated 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ uplinks support hot-swappable optical transceivers, enabling flexible fiber connectivity for a wide range of deployment requirements. Depending on the selected optical module and fiber type, link distances can extend up to 300 meters over multimode fiber and from 10 to 40 kilometers over single-mode fiber.
Virtual Switch Framework
Virtual Switch Framework (VSF) combines multiple AirPro switches into a single logical system. Member switches share configuration, control information, and forwarding tables, increasing system bandwidth and port density while simplifying network operations.
By providing a unified management interface and resilient inter-switch connectivity, VSF reduces administrative complexity and improves service availability across the switching infrastructure.
Advanced Layer 3 Routing
The AP-SG6500E Series provides high-performance, hardware-based IP routing for both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. Support for dynamic routing protocols—including RIP, OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP—enables seamless route exchange with Layer 3 switches and routers across complex network environments.
Policy-Based Routing (PBR) gives administrators greater control over traffic forwarding, making it well suited for multi-uplink, multi-exit, and application-aware routing scenarios.
Comprehensive Multicast Services
The AP-SG6500E Series supports a broad range of multicast capabilities designed to optimize bandwidth utilization and improve multicast application performance.
Layer 2 features include IGMPv1, IGMPv2, and IGMPv3 snooping, along with fast-leave processing. Additional capabilities such as Multicast VLAN Registration (MVR), multicast source and receiver control, and unauthorized multicast source detection help simplify multicast delivery while strengthening operational control.
Resilient Network Architecture
AirPro’s Multi-Layer Ring Protection Protocol (MRPP) provides fast protection and recovery for Ethernet ring topologies. Compared with traditional spanning-tree-based designs, MRPP offers faster convergence, simplified protocol processing, and more efficient use of system resources.
