Key Features
High-Performance Layer 3 Switching
The AIRPRO AP-SG6500E Series delivers wire-speed Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching with high-performance hardware forwarding for both IPv4 and IPv6 traffic. Designed for demanding enterprise networks, the platform provides high switching capacity, low latency, and reliable performance for bandwidth-intensive applications.
High-Speed 10 Gigabit Uplinks
Integrated 10 Gigabit SFP+ uplink interfaces provide high-bandwidth connectivity between access, aggregation, and core layers. The hot-swappable SFP+ ports support a wide range of optical transceivers, enabling flexible deployment over multimode fiber (up to 300 m) and single-mode fiber (up to 40 km), depending on the selected optical module.
Virtual Switch Framework (VSF)
The Virtual Switch Framework (VSF) technology enables multiple AP-SG6500E switches to operate as a single logical device, simplifying network expansion and centralized management. VSF increases port density, improves network resiliency, and delivers high availability through a unified control plane and simplified configuration.
Benefits include:
- Simplified network management
- Increased scalability and port density
- High availability with device redundancy
- Faster deployment and maintenance
Advanced Layer 3 Routing
The AP-SG6500E Series includes comprehensive hardware-based Layer 3 routing capabilities, supporting dynamic routing protocols including RIP, OSPF, and BGP for IPv4 and IPv6 networks. Advanced routing features such as Policy-Based Routing (PBR) enable intelligent traffic forwarding across multiple WAN connections, improving application performance and network flexibility.
Enterprise Multicast Services
Comprehensive multicast support ensures efficient delivery of multimedia and real-time services across enterprise networks. The switch supports IGMP Snooping v1/v2/v3, IGMP, Multicast VLAN Registration (MVR), multicast source validation, and multicast access control, optimizing bandwidth utilization for IPTV, video conferencing, digital signage, and streaming applications.
High Availability and Network Resiliency
The AP-SG6500E Series incorporates Multi-layer Ring Protection Protocol (MRPP) to provide rapid network convergence and uninterrupted service in ring topologies. Compared with traditional spanning tree protocols, MRPP offers faster recovery times, reduced protocol overhead, and enhanced network reliability for mission-critical deployments.
Advanced Quality of Service (QoS)
The AP-SG6500E Series features 8 hardware priority queues per port, enabling intelligent traffic classification and prioritization for latency-sensitive applications such as voice, video, and business-critical services.
QoS capabilities include:
- IEEE 802.1p Priority
- DSCP Classification
- IP Precedence
- TCP/UDP Port-Based Policies
- Per-Port and Per-Class Rate Limiting
- Bidirectional Bandwidth Control
These capabilities ensure consistent application performance while maximizing available network bandwidth.
Enterprise Security and Network Protection
The AP-SG6500E Series incorporates enterprise-grade security features including:
- IEEE 802.1X Port Authentication
- MAC Authentication
- Access Control Lists (ACLs)
- DHCP Snooping
- Dynamic ARP Inspection (DAI)
- IP Source Guard
- Storm Control
- Secure Management (SSH, SNMPv3)
These features help protect enterprise networks against unauthorized access and Layer 2 attacks while maintaining secure network operations.
